WRITE. / Scribblers Collective

Started with the mission of providing the highest quality calligraphy and penmanship at affordable prices, SC has become one of the most respected calligraphy, penmanship & hand-lettering studios in Singapore.

The Scribblers Collective strives to promote western calligraphy, penmanship, and writing by encouraging the use of handwriting for both casual personal correspondences or formal business invitations.

We focus primarily on western calligraphy, with expertise ranging from formal hands, such as English Roundtext and Copperplate to casual hands, such as Modern Calligraphy and Brush Lettering. We believe that brands and individuals alike should have access to proper calligraphy and penmanship, and we set a high benchmark for ourselves and all other calligraphers who work with us to provide services in Singapore.

In 2017, we expanded our team to include hand-lettering artists. With this expansion comes the ability to work on larger scale projects, such as black-board / glass lettering and wall murals. In October 2017, our team held our first 2-week long Art exhibition as a group at library@Orchard.

In Dec 2017, we have official launched our Feb 2018 mentorship programme which will be held in tandem with our Art Residency at our new studio space. A few selected individuals will spend a full month learning under the the guidance of our calligraphers and hand-letterers.

The Scribblers Collective Mentorship Programme

While we only accept skilled scribes, calligraphers, and hand lettering artists into the collective, we occasionally take on mentees who wish to further their knowledge and expertise in calligraphy or hand lettering. A strict selection process is put in place to ensure only those who are serious about the art are admitted into the program.

The training programmes are categorised into two types: One month long programme or a year-long programme

After being selected, initiates will be given a set of tools to practice with. Through constant coaching, they will hone their skills both mentally and physically over time.

Once training is complete, mentees will have to complete a completion piece. Mentees under the year-long programme may be given simple commercial jobs to fulfill, under the guidance of a mentor.
